Part-Time Electives

PART-TIME ELECTIVE REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

The physician-in-training should:

• Discuss an elective plan with their advisor. Determine the time requirement of the specific part-time elective through discussion with the supervisor or coordinator before completing the elective application. Note the credit earned for the part-time elective.
• Inform, and seek the approval of, the supervisor of any planned concurrent full-time course for the desired registration period.
• No physician-in-training may use a part-time elective course to leave from, or reduce, the required time of their concurrent full-time course.
• The maximum part-time credit allowed for M1/M2 years (combined) = 2 weeks, and the maximum part-time credit allowed for M3/M4 years (combined) = 4 weeks toward graduation.  Therefore, a total of 6 weeks of part-time credit may be applied toward the degree.
