Veterans are eligible to use MGIB if they have completed at least three (3) years of active duty service, contributed $100 per month during the first year of service, and were honorably discharged.  

Eligibility to participate in this program expires 10 years after separation from the military.  The benefit pays for 36 months. 

Funds are paid directly to the student based on the enrollment level (full-time, part-time, etc.).  As of October 1, 2014, the full-time payment is $1,717 per month.  If you contributed $600 under the “buy up” program, the monthly payment is increased to $1,867 per month.
