New 'Think Women Award for Writing'

Announces the 2020 New ‘Think Women Award for Writing’

The School of Social Work invites any graduating Bachelors, Masters, Doctoral student to submit an original paper relevant to current issues that focus on women and gender. Thoughtful papers that highlight women’s issues and women as a relevant population in social work through practice, policy, or research are acceptable. The papers will be judged by an Awards Committee of faculty and staff. 

The award is being sponsored by Think Women Company. The organization has been founded by Dr. Shweta Singh. Dr. Shweta Singh is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Certificate Program ‘Empowering Women –SAWG” at the School of Social Work. 

The Awarded Paper receives a cash prize and a Certificate and their paper will be posted on the website of Think Women Company.  

The Winner will receive $200

And the Runner UP will receive $100

GUIDELINES:

  1. Entries will be accepted from any student who is graduating in May 2021 from the Loyola MSW / WSGS program (including all Dual degree students). Only single author papers will be accepted.
  2. The paper must be original work of the student and must be of high caliber. Papers submitted in fulfillment of course requirements are encouraged. They can be improved or revised versions of original class-submissions too. Papers written specifically for this competition are also welcome.
  3. The paper must be in APA/MLA style and should be no more than 15 pages in length (double spaced), including all references and appendices, and must be properly cited. Papers exceeding the page limit will not be reviewed.
  4. Essential Criteria includes – Focus on Women, Relevance to Research or Policy or Practice with Women, contribution to social justice, Quality of writing.
  5. The decision of the Award Committee will be final. 

Each paper must be sent directly to Dr. Shweta Singh (ssingh9@luc.edu) by 11:00 PM March 30th, 2021. 

All submissions must be electronic. 

No late submissions will be accepted
