Summer 2022 WSGS 101 Course Offering

 

The course follows a lecture and discussion format, including in-class exercises and small group work, and is structured around two thematic areas: Unit 1: bodies, gender, and sexuality Unit 2: theories and social movements

 

Structure of the Course: Each week, you’ll learn more about the sociology of the body, sexuality, and gender through readings, synchronous meetings (on Wednesdays only), asynchronous forum discussions, and short assignments.

 

About the instructor:

At the intersection of different academic and professional worlds, Dr. Lombardi-Diop’s career as an educator and scholar has spanned over two continents. She was born and raised in Rome, Italy, and arrived in the United States as a Fulbright Scholar to complete a terminal Master Degree in African Studies at Yale University, before continuing for a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at New York University. She is fluent in four languages and truly devoted to international education. Her range of expertise spans from modern and contemporary Italian literature, Italian film, colonial and postcolonial studies, migration studies, gender theory, critical race theory, and queer and postmodern theory.
