DEI Discussion Circle Information

Co-Sponsored by the Acting Assistant Provost for Academic Diversity, Center for Experiential Learning, Faculty Center for Ignatian Pedagogy, and Student Academic Services

We will co-host monthly drop-in gatherings on each campus for faculty and staff who teach courses that intentionally address DEI issues. Participants will be invited to share successes or challenges that they experience with their teaching without fear of judgement or reprisal.

Unlike existing resources on campus, this group will provide peer mentoring, focusing on emotional support and practical solutions for classroom situations related to DEI issues. Because it can be responsive and flexible based on the themes emerging from the group it will supplement (and not replace) ongoing didactic training opportunities. There is no set curriculum for the DEI teaching and learning community.

Sessions will be offered at both campuses, lunch and refreshments will be provided at all gatherings. The first ones of the year are:

Water Tower Campus

Corboy Law Center 727, 12:30 - 1:30PM - January 30th, February 27th, and March 26th.

Lakeshore Campus

Cuneo Hall 410, 11:30AM - 12:30PM - February 24th (Dr. Gomberg-Muñoz - Culture, Society and Diversity), March 19th (Dr. Balasubramanian - Sociology of Sex and Gender), and April 1st (Dr. Scott - Philosophy of Race).

To RSVP please go here. RSVPs are not necessary, but do help us with ordering food.
