Curriculum Inventory Management (CIM) will launch 1 August 2024
Proposals for new courses and academic programs and for changes to existing courses and academic programs can be submitted in CIM when it launches 1 August 2024. The information proposers will need to provide will be similar to what the Academic Council, Provost's Office, and Registration & Records requested on previous generations of forms, but the CIM will feed it into an integrated university workflow for all appropriate bodies to review and approve. Fall 2025 will be the earliest possible effective date for new program proposals and program modification requests, and for new or changed course requests. If your academic unit in CAS needs course changes for Spring or Summer 2025 and they do NOT require approval by the College's Academic Council (e.g., typographical corrections, inactivations), please send Course Inventory Forms to the Associate Dean (jlong1@luc.edu). Course-requests needing Council approval or for effectiveness Fall 2025 or later should be submitted through CIM -
Transition to Curriculum Inventory Management (CIM)
The College of Arts & Sciences and the other undergraduate and graduate Schools of Loyola University Chicago expect to shift all proposals, review, and approval of curricular changes to a centralized online workflow system, the Curriculum Inventory Management system (CIM) for the Fall semester of 2024. This system will supersede the Schools' and University's several review-systems for curricular changes. It will integrate the information hitherto communicated in numerous forms developed in separate units. The CIM will become the vehicle for course, program, and policy additions and modifications at both undergraduate and graduate levels. It will route each request through the appropriate workflow so that all needed bodies can review and approve. The CIM system will be open to all faculty and members of approving committees. Training materials will become available in a SharePoint site. The availability of these materials and the date of the CIM's launch will be announced. -
Academic Council's DocFinity Platform
Through Academic Year 2023-24, all curricular changes are requested through the CAS-AC DocFinity platform. The best access to the DocFinity system will be using Chrome or Edge, from a terminal on campus or through Loyola Secure Access; instructions for LSA from University Information Technology Services - Information Security - Resources. ITS has advised us that an upgrade to the DocFinity system will be made Sunday, 21 April, between 5:30am-10:00am. After that interval, when the platform will be offline, please remember it will be necessary to clear your browser cache before logging into the upgraded DocFinity. It will remain at the same URL. Before using the CAS-AC DocFinity platform, please review the general instructions about DocFinity on the page About the Platform at this website, as well as specific instructions for the type of curricular proposal you are making, under Instructions for Curricular Changes or Instructions for Temporary Tag/Cross-Listing Requests. -

Meeting Schedule and Submission Deadlines
The College of Arts & Science's Academic Council normally meets four times in each of the Fall and Spring semesters during the academic year. Submission deadlines for curricular applications are normally set 3 weeks ahead of the meeting date, to allow time for the Curriculum Committee to review the proposals and work with submitters to clarify and regularize them. Our goal is for changes the Council approves to pass smoothly through the University's other approval-processes and implementation. Changes requiring programming or re-programming of majors and minors normally need to have been approved by the Council no later than the December meeting of any one academic year, to be on-track for implementation as soon as the following Fall semester. New courses and course-changes normally need to have been approved by the Council no later than the February meeting of any one academic year, to be on-track for implementation as soon as the following Fall semester. -
CAS-AC Archive
Application-packages for proposed curricular changes and other meeting materials of the College of Arts & Science's Academic Council, from September 2017 forward, are archived in the CAS-AC DocFinity Platform. Individual items may be looked up in the Searching workspace: specify items of information in the Metadata Query's input-boxes and zero in accordingly. Submitters who update their indexing information completely greatly facilitate these searches! But if you find only isolated items through the search-parameter with which you start, you can usually locate the rest of a package by re-searching with the Unique ID. -
Google Site
The Academic Council Google site contains an archive of Council materials between 2008-09 and 2014-15.
