Concert Support Assistant 

Location:  Mundelein Center for the Fine and Performing Arts and other Lake Shore Campus performance venues 

Minimum Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Current student at Loyola University Chicago 
  • Qualify for Federal Work-study 
  • Able to work at the Lake Shore Campus 
  • Scheduling flexibility including some evenings or weekends 
  • Reliable 
  • Basic math 
  • Follow complex direction 
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. 
  • Familiarity with stage set-ups, and concert lighting and sound a plus 

Duties: The Concert Support Assistant will assist with the set-up, execution, and break-down for various DFPA performances and other events. 

Concert Support Assistants will be asked to: 

  • Set-up and break-down platform risers, choral risers, chairs, music stands, percussion, and other instruments and equipment for dress rehearsals and performances 
  • Act as stage crew during performances 
  • Prepare and post signage 
  • Work closely with the front-of-house and box office staff 
  • Set-up and use various audio, lighting, A/V, and staging equipment  
  • Organize workspaces between events 
  • Perform other concert-related duties, as assigned 

Experienced Concert Support Assistants may be asked to be event leads or get additional training to be sound or light board operators.  Event leads supervise the crew for a specific event, delegate tasks, fill-out and file event reports, manage troubleshooting procedures, and may be called on to make announcements, introductions, or other performance-related duties. 

 

Ensemble Support Assistant 

Location:  Mundelein Center for the Fine and Performing Arts, MC 174 (Ensemble Office) 

Minimum Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Participation in the ensemble 
  • Current student at Loyola University Chicago 
  • Qualify for Federal Work-study 
  • Able to work at the Lake Shore Campus 
  • Scheduling flexibility 
  • Reliable 
  • Basic math 
  • Follow complex direction 
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite applications  

Duties:  The Ensemble Support Assistant will be responsible for tasks involved in the management of the DFPA’s music ensembles.  These ensembles include the University Choirs, Jazz Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble. 

Ensemble Support Assistants will be asked to: 

  • Set-up and break-down chairs, music stands, percussion, and other instruments and equipment for regular class rehearsals, sectionals, green rooms, and music clinics 
  • Mange the ensemble’s music library database and physical library space 
  • Prepare, distribute, and collect sheet music and music folders for ensemble members and guest musicians 
  • Assist with ensemble roster management and communication 
  • Prepare and post signage for sectionals 
  • Print and distribute program rundowns to ensemble members 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the designated supervisors
