Below you will find information and resources for students interested in employment opportunities in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts.
Below are links to job descriptions of typical student work opportunities found throughout the Department of Fine and Performing Arts to give interested students a better sense of the kinds of roles available.
Handshake is Loyola's interactive career management tool. Handshake offers job/internship opportunities (including Federal Work Study positions), registration for career fairs and events, an on-campus recruitement program, peer-to-peer messaging and career education.
Once students set up a profile, they will be able to search and apply for student work positions throughout the Department of Fine and Performing Arts. Please note that some opportunities require Federal Work Study eligibility. In these cases, these specific jobs will only be searchable to students with Federal Work Study awards.

Students that have applied for a student work position can expect the following:
- Notification via Handshake or email that the applicant will not be moving forward in the hiring process
- Notification of interest from the work unit Supervisor and invitation to interview
- Interview in person or via Zoom with the Supervisor
- Receive a hiring offer from the Supervisor
- Provide contact and personal information to the Supervisor to begin the hiring process
- If this is a student's first job at Loyola (New Hire), the student will be contacted by DFPA Hiring Manager Jose Perez (jperez32@luc.edu) with next steps. Students are expected to follow all instructions carefully and completely to move the hiring process forward.
- Student will complete a hiring packet online
- Student will provide digital copies of their I-9 documents as part of hiring packet.
- Students will need to schedule a New Hire Appointment with Jose Perez to verify I-9 documents and receive additional information and resources.
- New and returning student workers will receive a notification email from Payroll informing them of their employee ID number and instructions on how to access KRONOS, the online timecard system
- Upon HR notification, the Supervisor will contact the newly hired student to confirm the first day of work and schedule.

- Manual Time Card (to be submitted if you miss the KRONOS deadline of Monday, 12pm. Students have between 12-2pm on the Monday of time card approvals to submit the manual time card to your supervisor for signature.)

- Employee Self Service: login using your UVID. Use ESS for the following items:
- Address changes
- Changes to Direct Deposit
- Look up available sick time
- Retrieve your W2
Effective July 1, 2024, hourly paid student workers are now eligible for up to forty (40) hours (5 days) of paid sick leave and forty (40) hours (5 days) of paid leave to be used for any reason in a 12-month period.
- Student workers will accrue sick and paid leave at a rate of one (1) hour per thirty-five (35) hours worked in a 12-month period. As a reminder, student workers were already eligible for sick time prior to July 1, 2024, and at a rate of (1) hour per forty (40) hours worked in a 12-month period.
- For any student workers hired July 1, 2024, or later, sick leave can be used 30 days after the hire date.
- Student workers can start using paid leave for any reason 90 days from their hire date starting July 1, 2024, which is September 30, 2024.
- Unused sick time is not paid out upon termination. However, unused paid leave hours will be paid out upon termination.
