Before Orientation

Your Loyola University Chicago Orientation is just around the corner! Here's what you need to do:

Register for your required online Orientation events via your student portalTo best serve each student, there is limited space at each session. Orientation Weeks, Small Group Discussions, and Academic Advising Appointments will fill on a first-come, first-served basis, so please register early!

Prepare for and take your required Placement AssessmentsYou need to complete your placement assessments at least one week ahead of your Academic Advising Appointment (transfers) or Orientation Week (first-years). Check your Student Portal to see which Placement Assessments you need to complete.

Complete the Technology Roadmap for new students. This will help you navigate your UVID/Password, Loyola email, and LOCUS (your online connection to University services). Please complete all 4 stages!

Get more familiar with Loyola’s academic foundation and prepare for course registration with these tips.

  • First-Year Students* - You will receive your personalized course recommendations during your Orientation Week. An academic advisor will register you in your fall classes after your Orientation Week.
  • Transfer Students - After your Academic Advising Appointment, you will enroll in your classes from home during your designated enrollment period. Enrollment will be easier and smoother if you have have looked through these tips.

Download and become familiar with Zoom, as it will be the primary tool used to facilitate webinars and other virtual discussions this summer.

*If you are an Interdisciplinary Honors or Quinlan School of Business Honors student, please review these next steps to complete before June 5.
