Below are data and resources on recent matriculants to osteopathic (DO) medical school.  These data provide a general picture of competitive marks in terms of Cumulative GPA, Science GPA, and relevant standardized test scores.  The information provided in this section serves only as general guidelines.  The marks for individual matriculants and individual health professional schools may vary substantially from these general guidelines. Earning a certain GPA or test score does not guarantee acceptance to health professional school, nor does it destine one for rejection.

Cumulative GPA

  • Green Light: 3.55 or higher
  • Yellow Light: 3.25 to 3.54
  • Red Light: lower than 3.25

BCP (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) GPA

  • Green Light: 3.46 or higher
  • Yellow Light: 3.20 to 3.45
  • Red Light: lower than 3.20

MCAT

  • Green Light: 503 or higher
  • Yellow Light: 502 to 497
  • Red Light: 496 or lower*

*(1) A score of 496 or lower is more than one standard deviation below the mean MCAT score for matriculants to osteopathic medical school for fall 2016; (2) osteopathic medical school applicants for fall 2016 who had an MCAT score of 494 or lower matriculated to osteopathic medical school at a rate of 9%.
