What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola? My absolute favorite thing about working at Loyola is the community that I’ve built both with colleagues and with students. Not only do I work with a team of folks who work hard and give hard to support students, but the level of collaboration and comradery that I’ve experienced in my time here cannot be rivaled.

What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee? This is difficult to narrow down to one! The development of the Rambler Success Program along with the continued passion and effort that the RSP team puts into making the program better every year is definitely up there. The relationships that I’ve developed with faculty members who work with the program have been amazing and the work that we do to support students in their first year at Loyola has been so rewarding. Additionally, the relationships that I’ve built with my advisees over the years has been incredible and looking at my “gratitude board” reminds me why I continue with the work that we do.

What does Loyola's mission mean to you? One of the factors that drew me to Loyola was the belief in educating the whole person, not just for success inside the classroom but out in the community as well. The importance of serving alongside a community and finding my foothold in the journey to create change is one that resonates with me. Working in a place where we can challenge students to pay attention to issues of social justice is incredibly important to me and knowing that we can talk about it in the classroom and in advising sessions is so affirming.

What motivates you to succeed each and every day? Honestly, knowing that when I “show up” my students and my colleagues benefit is a great motivator for why I strive to achieve. But more importantly, being able to talk to my kids about my day, the work that I do, and the impact that they, too, can one day have on their community is another huge motivator.

Tell us how you show your Rambler pride: Since I started working here, the amount of maroon that has shown up in my wardrobe has multiplied EXPONENTIALLY.

Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you: I love acting! I was in a few plays in grad school (as well as in church growing up) and can ham it up. Mind you, I’m not saying I’m any good…just that I love it.
