7/30/19 Provost Search Update

The Provost Search Committee had a very productive meeting in July when they convened to plan for the Fall semester and to review the first round of candidates.  Below is a brief review of the committee work to date:

  1. The search firm we are working with—Issacson, Miller—has provided a very robust and impressive list of candidates to date and is continuing to accept applications. Please feel free to submit a nomination if you know of a potential candidate. Use the link listed above to make recommendations.
  2. June Coyne (a doctoral student) was invited to become a member of this committee replacing CK (Chia-Yang Kao), who graduated in May.  June has accepted our invitation.
  3. All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend “Provost Listening Sessions” in order to give this Committee feedback regarding the most important characteristics of the new Provost. The sessions will be held prior to the Committee making any decisions regarding candidate selections.  The dates and times are listed below.  All are invited to attend either or both sessions, and no RSVP is necessary:
    • LSC
      Tuesday, August 27
      Mundelein Center, Palm Court
      3:30-5 p.m.
    • WTC
      Wednesday, August 28
      Schreiber Center, Wintrust Hall
      3:30-5 p.m.
Please Note: two listening sessions were held at at HSC in the Spring on May 2.
  4. Timeline: Since this is a confidential search, interview dates and times will not be posted. The committee will complete their review of candidates in early Fall to allow time for the finalists to meet with members of the President’s Cabinet, the Council of Deans, the Provost Office, Interim Provost Margaret Callahan, and President Rooney. The Committee plans to make recommendations to President Rooney before the end of the Fall semester.
