Transportation Statement

Loyola University Chicago seeks to provide efficient, convenient, and safe transportation options for students, staff and visitors. The urban setting of the Lake Shore and Water Tower Campuses provide a wealth of transit options including train, bus, bicycle, pedestrian, and car. While the University meets all parking requirements mandated by the City of Chicago, due to our urban location, there can be limited access to convenient parking locations. Loyola encourages the reduction of single occupancy vehicle trips to campus through alternative transportation modes such as; public transit, Metra, Pace, and ride sharing. Additionally we encourage healthy commuting options like walking and bicycling. Increased use of alternative commuting options improves the quality of life on campus, strengthens our ties to our neighboring community, and reduces impacts on the environment.

Parking during Commencement Week

We look forward to welcoming thousands of students, faculty, staff, and guests at Loyola’s upcoming Commencement ceremonies. Starting Tuesday, May 9th use of the Main Parking Structure located at 1110 W. Sheridan Rd. will be limited to graduating students and their guests. Graduates will receive their parking passes electronically when they receive their ceremony tickets. Alternatively, other Loyola community members can park in Fordham Garage located at 6455 N. Sheridan Rd., West Loyola Lot located at 1236 W. Loyola Ave., Contractor’s Lot located at 1227 W. Loyola Ave., and St. Louis Lot located at 1245 W. Loyola Ave. (entry to the St. Louis lot is in the alley).

It is strongly encouraged that Loyola Community Members who are commuting to campus during Commencement Week plan ahead, allow extra time to get to campus, utilize public transportation or carpool, if possible.
