Transportation Statement

Loyola University Chicago seeks to provide efficient, convenient, and safe transportation options for students, staff and visitors. The urban setting of the Lake Shore and Water Tower Campuses provide a wealth of transit options including train, bus, bicycle, pedestrian, and car. While the University meets all parking requirements mandated by the City of Chicago, due to our urban location, there can be limited access to convenient parking locations. Loyola encourages the reduction of single occupancy vehicle trips to campus through alternative transportation modes such as; public transit, Metra, Pace, and ride sharing. Additionally we encourage healthy commuting options like walking and bicycling. Increased use of alternative commuting options improves the quality of life on campus, strengthens our ties to our neighboring community, and reduces impacts on the environment.

Transportation updates

Shuttle Service Update

• The intercampus shuttle will not operate on Monday, October 5^th or Tuesday, October 6^th. Normal operating hours will resume on Wednesday, October 7^th.
• For everyone’s safety, the intercampus shuttle will only pick students up from the designated shuttle stops (In front of the Father Damen Statue at Lake Shore Campus and inside the Corboy Lobby at Water Tower Campus). For your safety and the safety of riding passengers, please do not approach an intercampus shuttle once it has left the designated stop. 

8-RIDE Service Update

• On Monday, October 5^th and Tuesday, October 6^th, a reduced number of vans will run from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00am. Regular operations will resume Wednesday, October 7^th.

• Stay alert and wait in a safe location for your 8-RIDE to arrive. If you see something you believe to be suspicious or you feel unsafe in your surroundings, immediately contact Campus Safety at (773) 508-7233 or the Chicago Police Department at 911.
