8-RIDE Program

8-RIDE Mobile (TripShot Login)

All students will be able to register and schedule their own 8 Ride reservations, receive estimated arrival times and track vehicle locations by downloading the TripShot App to their smartphone. 

To begin using the reservations portal, please follow the instructions below:

1.   Login to TripShot

2.  Once logged in click on "On Demand" on the home screen

3.  Type the building name or address you would like to be dropped off at and select once it has been populated

4.  The start will always say "Current Location" you want to change this to the location's building name or address for best service. Click where it says Current Address and type the building name or address you are to be picked up from. 

5.  Once the pick-up building or address and drop-off building or address are populated, you can click on "Request"

6.  If you have multiple riders you are booking for, please click on the "Depart Now" button and change the passenger count before requesting the ride. 

7.  Once a ride is requested a pick-up time and drop-off time should appear on the screen.

If you do need to cancel a ride, please cancel and enter a reason for cancellation so that we may provide the best service in the future.

The 8 Ride reservations line is still available at 773.508.7433 and can also be used to answer any questions about the registration process. 

General Information

Our goal is provide safe and quality service.

8-RIDE is busiest during inclement weather. Due to limited capacity, please give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination. Please be patient, plan your trip accordingly, and call ahead 20–30 minutes to schedule your pick up.

When booking a ride, passengers should enter the exact address of their pick-up and drop-off locations in TripShot or give the exact addresses to the dispatchers when calling. 

Stay alert and wait in a safe location for your 8-RIDE to arrive. If you see something you believe to be suspicious or you feel unsafe in your surroundings, immediately contact Campus Safety at 773-508-7233 or the Chicago Police Department at 911.

Once the driver arrives, they will wait up to 5 minutes for you to approach the van before cancelling the ride. The driver will also wait for you to get safely inside your drop-off location. 

We encourage students to provide feedback on transportation services. Feedback forms are available 24/7 here. It's most helpful for our office to include information like driver name and/or description, vehicle/license plate numbers, times, dates and exact locations on your feedback forms. 

8-RIDE Rules

Please assist us by following these 8-RIDE rules:

  • Students must show their Loyola issued ID in order to be able to board. 
  • The 8-RIDE service is available for current students only.
  • You may transport as much luggage or groceries as you can fit on your lap.
  • Pick-up and drop-off at bars and liquor stores is prohibited.
  • Transporting alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited.
  • Smoking or vaping inside 8-RIDE vans is strictly prohibited.
  • No loud talking on cell phones inside the van.
  • Hoyne Field pick ups are only during practices or games.
  • Animals are not allowed in the vans. Guide Animals and Trained Assistance Animals as defined by Campus Policy should be included in the passenger count when booking a ride. 
  • During busy times, drivers will wait for only three minutes for passenger pick up.
  • Treat your driver with respect.
  • Profanity is unacceptable.
  • Off-campus drop off and pick up locations are: private residences, Walgreens, and CTA stops.

Anyone not following the rules of 8-RIDE will be reported to Judicial Affairs and appropriate action will be taken.

8-RIDE Service Boundaries:

  • North—Touhy Avenue
  • West—Clark Street
  • South—Thorndale Avenue
  • East—Lake Michigan

These boundaries have been set to best serve the Loyola Community at large. 8-RIDE drivers will not pick-up or drop-off outside these boundaries. 

Service Hours

Hours of operation when school is in session:

Regular service: 6:30 p.m.–2:30 a.m.
(Last call taken at 2:15 a.m.)

8-RIDE is not in service over the summer. 8-RIDE service will resume in Fall 2025.
