In this project, I will look at Cook County residents' opinions regarding restorative justice in the criminal justice system. In particular, I will look at how opinions about restorative justice practices depend on the gender of the respondent and the gender of the perpetrator. Working with my advisor, I will craft questions asking about general feelings about restorative justice practices and develop an experimental design that will allow me to assess whether opinions changed based on the perpetrator's gender. Using demographic data, along with the set of questions I would develop about restorative justice practices, I will analyze participants' opinions on restorative justice practices, and look at how these opinions may vary by the survey participant's gender.
