Graduation

Apply to finish degree requirements (graduation)

All students must submit a graduation application through LOCUS by the specified deadline in order to receive their diploma at the end of the term in which they expect to complete their degree. Diplomas are awarded at the end of each term to students who have met all degree completion requirements and submitted their graduation application by the applicable deadline listed below.

  • Fall Term: July 1
  • Winter Term: July 1
  • Spring Term: December 1
  • Summer Term: December 1

The graduation application is located in LOCUS, under "Academics" and "Apply for Graduation."

After submitting the graduation application, students receive a confirmation email and a graduation audit prepared by Quinlan staff that is sent to their LUC email. If students suspect any errors or have concerns regarding their graduation audit, they should contact the Quinlan Graduate Programs team (quinlangrad@luc.edu) or their advisor as soon as possible.

Note: LOCUS will not allow you to apply for a graduation term beyond its listed deadline. Late applicants must apply for the next available quarter, and then contact their advisor to determine if an update to the graduation term is possible. Students who miss the application deadline will not receive their degree until the end of the following term.

For more information, please contact the Quinlan Graduate Programs team at quinlangrad@luc.edu, or your advisor.

Commencement Ceremony

The Quinlan School of Business holds its commencement ceremony in May for MBA and MS students who complete degree requirements within that academic year.

Students who are graduating between the Fall and Summer terms of an academic year are eligible to attend the commencement ceremony held in the Spring term of that specific academic year. For example: graduates between Fall 2025 to Summer 2026 (one academic year) are eligible to attend the commencement ceremony in Spring 2026.

Students will not be allowed to attend a commencement ceremony in another academic year if they are unable to register for or attend their eligible commencement within the academic year of their degree completion.

Please note that commencement registration is a different process than applying to graduate. Students should adhere to the deadlines listed above to apply to finish their degrees; registration to attend their eligible commencement ceremony will open to students in late January of that year (e.g. January 2026 for the May 2026 ceremony).

Honors

Students graduating with an exact GPA of 4.0 will be recognized with High Dean's Honors. Those with a GPA of at least 3.9 will earn Dean's Honors. For the purpose of Commencement, Dean's Honors status will be based off of GPAs after the Winter quarter. Official Dean's Honors status will be determined once final GPAs are posted, and certificates are mailed to the address listed in LOCUS after degrees are awarded. GPAs are not rounded for determination of Dean's Honors or High Dean's Honors status.
