About

Department/School/Division: Student Affairs – Student Life, Stritch School of Medicine

Campus: HSC

Years at Loyola: 5 ½ years

What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola? The people are definitely my favorite thing about Loyola.  The students, faculty, and staff are wonderful to work with and really make Stritch feel like a second family.  They make coming to work each day fun and interesting.

What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee? Transitioning to my current role in Student Life with none of the previous Student Life staff still at Loyola made figuring out my responsibilities challenging, but it also enabled me to be creative and work collaboratively with other offices to strengthen the department.

What does Loyola's mission mean to you? As a Catholic, I attended Catholic schools since I was in first grade, and prior to coming to Loyola, taught at a Catholic elementary school for 8 years.  Though none of the schools were Jesuit, I found myself aligning strongly with the Jesuit values of social justice and service.  It’s been refreshing to find myself in such a caring, open-minded, and welcoming environment every day.

What motivates you to succeed each and every day? The students are my biggest motivator.  Knowing that I’m playing a small role in them attaining their goal of becoming physicians means a lot to me.  Getting to know them individually is the best part of my job.

Tell us how you show your Rambler pride. I have more Stritch apparel than I probably should.  One of the best feelings is when I’m out doing something mundane like grocery shopping and someone asks me about Stritch because I get to talk about what an amazing place it is!

Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you. I have 3 dogs (I know—it’s a lot!).  Riley (Irish Setter), Baxter (Greyhound), and Lila (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) are my fur babies, and they’ve gotten to partake in a fair amount of zoom calls over the past few months!
