About
Teaching Philosophy:
Dynamic participation and engagement are crucial to transforming the classroom into a community of practice where students can see their ideas take shape. Thus, my pedagogy is strongly informed by social theories of language that underscore the connection between students’ writing and their ability to shape social environments. I firmly believe that writers must see themselves as participants who have the power to shape the practice of particular communities and, at the same time, can recognize the influence of communities on their own experiences of learning and writing. By seeing themselves as active members engaged in a community, students can begin to recognize that their writing has the potential for meaningful consequences.
