Admissions and Financial Aid

Undergraduate Admissions

Loyola welcomes applications from all students regardless of immigration status. Loyola admits students without regard to their race, color, sex, age, national or ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, ancestry, military discharge or status, marital status, parental status, or any other protected status. Undocumented students and students with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status are treated and considered the same as any other Loyola applicant during the review process.

Undocumented and DACA students should follow the same application process as a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. This applies for students coming directly from high school as well as students interested in transferring in from another undergraduate institution. All materials submitted are considered during the application review process.

Learn more about the admissions process by visiting the Undergraduate Admissions website. From the homepage, click on the “other applicants” tab at the top of the page. Scroll down to the “Undocumented Student” box and click on “Learn More.”

To connect with or schedule an appointment with an admission counselor, email admission@luc.edu. Bilingual admissions support is available.

Financial Aid

Undocumented and DACA students are not eligible for federal financial aid, but they can be considered for merit-based scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to academically qualified students based on the review of their application. It is important that a student apply by the priority application deadline in order to be considered for any merit-based scholarships. Loyola also offers a very limited number of Magis Scholarships for undocumented students. These competitive scholarships can cover tuition, on-campus room and board, and student fees. More information on the Magis Scholarships is provided to students after admission to the University.

Magis Scholarship

In the summer of 2014, the Student Government of Loyola Chicago (SGLC) partnered with the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) to open an endowed scholarship fund for undocumented Loyola undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need but do not qualify for federal financial aid. The scholarship covers tuition, on-campus room and board, and mandatory student fees.

Dreamer Scholarship

This annually awarded scholarship is awarded to newly admitted transfer and freshman who have undocumented status. The scholarship covers tuition, on-campus room and board, and mandatory student fees.
