DSD DEIA Committee

Purpose

The Division of Student Development’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Anti-Racism Committee (DEI&A) requires the commitment of all members of the division to carry the weight of the work and make individual departmental and divisional changes to ensure that we fully realize and embody the Jesuit mission of social justice and equity for all members of our community.

Goals

  • Advise the Vice President of the Division of Student Development (VPDSD)related to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism (DEI&A) within the division

  • Implement and manage divisional systemic analyses

  • Hold the VPDSD and division accountable & responsible for implementing DEI&A policies and procedures that are forward-moving, sustainable and accountable.

  • Advise DSD staff, students, and other programming and educational entities in the division on ways forward regarding DEI&A

  • Provide relevant content on Student Development website

Committee Charge

The DSD DEI&A committee will review policies, practices, and procedures throughout the division to determine where we can improve regarding equity and social justice for our most vulnerable populations. The committee will create and implement a strategic plan for the essential and critical work of diversity, equity, inclusion and access for staff and our students, and make this a continuous priority of the division and the university. This strategic plan will be incorporated and embedded in the overall DSD strategic plan.

Committee Structure

In the spirit of working together in a boundaryless manner, the committee will employ a participatory model.

The Chair (AVP) will gather the committee members at the beginning and end of the academic year and facilitate the development of the year’s master list of goals and outcomes for the committee, discuss strengths of the members of the committee, and assess progress.
