Yes, auditions are open to all students on campus.

Yes, many theatre majors also major in another discipline. It is also possible to minor in theatre.
Do you offer musical theatre?
Yes, we offer a minor in Musical Theatre. Our cross-disciplinary program is designed for students majoring in the performing arts. The musical theatre minor offers three tracks for students majoring in music, dance, or theatre. Students take courses in the two performing arts forms outside their concentration, along with a capstone in musical theatre repertoire. The capstone course culminates in a Musical Theatre Showcase.
What opportunities are there in design and technical theatre?
We offer courses in stage design, lighting design, costume design, stage management, theatre management, drafting, crafts for the stage, etc. All theatre majors receive a background in design; students who pursue more advanced design training may also receive the opportunity to design in our Second Stage series. Some of our exceptional students have also designed for the mainstage.
Do you have to audition to get into the program?
No, you don't have to audition to get into the theatre program. You need to be admitted into the University, and then you declare either a major or a minor in theatre.
What internships are available?
Chicago is the home of many well-known theatres. A wide variety of internships in different disciplines and at different theatres are available. Loyola faculty and staff are often heavily involved in professional theatre, and therefore are great resources for internships. However, it is primarily the student's responsibility to find and secure internship opportunities.
Students that work as interns in professional theatre and take THTR 394: Internship in Theatre can earn 3 hours of credit.
Are there opportunities to study abroad in Theatre?
Yes! LUC Program has a study abroad program called the London Theatre Experience (THTR 335) where you spend three weeks in London studying its rich history of theatre. You will go on walking tours around the city, backstage tours of theatres, visit museums, see theatre productions, attend workshops by UK theatre professionals, and more! Is there a design or directing concentration?
Our theatre major has no formal concentrations. Students can shape their own course of study in their elective and production choices. Our Second Stage Laboratory series offers students chances to direct, design and perform in projects ranging from staged readings to devised 2-week workshops with assigned student design coordinators. Each early-semester students apply for directing and design production assignments via an application open to all students.
