Parent and Family Resources
Every student's journey at Loyola University Chicago is unique. Whether your student is in their first semester or preparing to graduate, they may encounter personal, academic, or financial challenges along the way. While students are taking greater ownership of their college experience, families remain an invaluable source of encouragement, guidance, and perspective. They are also often the first to recognize when a student may need additional support.
If you're concerned about your student, we encourage you to reach out. You know your student better than anyone, and your perspective can help us better understand how to support them.
The CURA Network is Loyola's coordinated system for responding to student concerns and connecting students with the campus partners best equipped to support their individual needs. Through this collaborative approach, concerns are reviewed and routed to the appropriate office, whether that involves the Office of the Dean of Students, the Office for Equity & Compliance, Student Accessibility Services, the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, or another campus partner. Our shared goal is to help students access resources, navigate challenges, and remain successful at Loyola.
WHEN SHOULD I SUBMIT A CONCERN?
You do not need to know exactly what type of support your student needs before reaching out. If something feels different or you're worried about their well-being, we encourage you to submit a concern through the CURA Network.
Families commonly reach out when a student is:
- Experiencing significant stress, anxiety, or emotional distress
- Struggling academically because of personal circumstances
- Experiencing financial hardship or basic needs challenges
- Coping with a medical concern, hospitalization, or family emergency
- Navigating a difficult personal or relationship situation
If you're wondering whether you should submit a concern, the answer is usually yes. We'd much rather learn about a concern early than after a student has been struggling on their own.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT A CONCERN?
Every concern submitted through the CURA Network is reviewed and routed to the campus partner best equipped to respond.
Depending on the nature of the concern, a staff member may reach out directly to your student, connect them with resources, coordinate with other university offices, or provide ongoing support when appropriate. Every student's situation is unique, and our response is tailored to their individual needs.
If you believe your student or someone else is in immediate danger, call Campus Safety at 773.508.SAFE (7233) or 911.
