Named after the founder of Loyola University Chicago, the Arnold J. Damen, S.J. Student Center provides the Loyola University Chicago student community with a dedicated space to build community and encourage co-curricular engagement at the Lake Shore Campus.

Located at the heart of the Lake Shore Campus, the Damen Student Center is the place to go to relax, study, play pool, watch TV, grab a snack or hang out with friends. Located right off of the Loyola Red Line stop, Damen Student Center is the perfect gathering space for the Loyola community. The facility includes the information desk, grand staircase, meeting space, multipurpose room, first-class residential and food-court dining service, departmental offices, student lounges, a 125-seat cinema, and gaming space. Check in at the Information Desk for all of what Loyola has to offer.

LEED Silver Certification

The 100,000+ sq. ft. Damen Student Center is a  LEED Silver certified building. In building the facility, Loyola implemented some sustainable construction practices and building features: 75% of construction waste management was diverted from landfills, 50% of the building is green roof, 20% of the materials used come from recycled content, 10% of materials used are processed and manufactured regionally. The building also features storm water quality and quantity control measures, a heat island roof design with low albedo, water efficient fixtures to reduce water use up to 30%, optimized energy performance above code requirements, an innovative earth duct make up air system, natural ventilation in all habitable spaces, and day light harvesting.
