    The Math & Stats Club hosted presenter Professor Emily Peters and math knitting happened! Click above to see more pictures of the event.
  • The Symmetry in Knitting

    Come learn to knit with members of the Math/Stat community! During the event Professor Emily Peters will be giving a fun presentation about the connections between knitting/crocheting and math. Needles, yarn, pizza, and drinks will be provided. April 12th, 4-5pm in IES room 111.
  • Pi Day Celebration

    Come join is for pi/pie related fun! This will (of course) include pies to eat. This event is being run by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in collaboration with the Math & Stats Club. March 14th, 4-5pm in IES room 111.
  • Nimra Khan Wins Building Community Bridges Award

    Nimra Khan, a Junior majoring in Math & Computer Science, was awarded the 2022 Building Community Bridges Award for her efforts to advance diversity and inclusion at Loyola and within her home community. Congratulations, Nimra! Click above to learn more.

  • Women in Data Science (WiDS) Datathon

    Want to participate in a virtual team data science challenge for prizes? Want to learn in a respectful and fun environment? Want to work with OUTSTANDING women data scientists in Chicago? Register for the Women in Data Science (WiDS) Datathon! This year’s WiDS datathon challenge focuses on analyzing regional differences in building energy efficiency and creating models to predict building energy consumption.   • Welcome New Majors!

    Last week the Math and Stat Department hosted an event to welcome our new freshman and, since they weren't on campus last year, our sophomores as well. It was an opportunity to meet fellow math and stat majors and chat informally with some of the faculty. Our Department Chair, Prof. Tingley, gave a brief introduction to the department, as well as the techniques and mathematics behind juggling. Welcome to all our new majors!
