Part-Time Instructor, Applied Health Sciences

I work at a mental health private practice located in Chicago and have been instructing at Loyola University of Chicago for over 5 years. I enjoy working with athletes on performance enhancement both in life and in their sport. Other areas of focus include individuals dealing with injury, chronic illness, burn out, stress/anxiety, weight loss, diet/exercise, and motivation to name a few. When not at work I can be found fixing things around the house and/or playing with my kids.

Research Interest

Human Behavior, mental health and sport/exercise.

Education
  • BS in Business, Wagner College, Staten Island, NY
  • MA in Mental Health Counseling
    • Specialization in Sport & Health Psychology, Adler School of Professional Psychology, Chicago

What prompted you to pursue your field?

As a former Collegiate student athlete I saw a dire need for a wellness/performance resource dedicated to student athletes. As an adult I see a dire need for mental health wellness and recognized my area of focus as a way to help both populations.

Why is this area of study important at this point in time?

Teaching students to better understand their clients and patients helps them become better practitioners by showing compassion, understanding and empathy. Additionally I feel teaching helps students in their future professions by working to expand knowledge in the service of humanity through learning, justice and faith.
