Message from the Office of the President
JUNE 1 · 10:05 P.M.

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

COVID-19 has caused unforeseen financial hardships for many members of the Loyola University Chicago community. Despite this, the University remains committed to helping students and their families achieve the goal of completing a Loyola degree, alleviate the financial stress of unexpected expenses, and address students’ overall needs beyond those of a financial nature.

In the midst of these tumultuous times, we want to help our community better understand some of the new and distinctive ways Loyola students can receive assistance:

A brief guide outlining the unique features of each of these offerings, and including further contact information, can be found at LUC.edu/coronavirus/valuableassistance.

Sincerely,

Thomas M. Kelly
Sr Vice President, Administrative Services
Office of the President

University Preparedness Planning

Loyola Univerisity Chicago's emergency response, planning, and decision making which began back in February, has evolved as the pandemic unfolded and is on-going. Our top priority remains Health & Safety, followed by academic continuity (teaching, research and learning) and student recruitment & retention. The emergency response organizational chart depicts our current organization structure. This will continue to evolve—expanding and contracting as needed by our response. There are now nearly 250 faculty, staff and students working daily on our emergency response and planning for a return to the “next normal” of University Operations. Learn more

University Policy

In light of the growing number of COVID-19 cases throughout the US and the stay-at-home order in effect in IL and many other cities/states, we will not notify the entire Loyola community of every additional confirmed case moving forward. Students, Faculty, and Staff who test positive will automatically have their results conveyed to the Chicago Department of Public Health by their medical providers. In an effort to monitor the health and wellbeing of our Loyola community, positive test results from students, faculty and staff may be confidentially communicated to Joan Holden, Health Officer, but this is not required. As a reminder, contact tracing is not currently being conducted for individuals living in non-congregate settings. Please continue to check this website and our FAQs for updates and resources.
