Elena Duarte

 

Elena M. Duarte, (MUND 69), BA, MSW, ACSW, JD.  

Elena obtained her Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law and is licensed both in Illinois and D.C. bars. She earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois in Chicago, Jane Addams School of Social Work and was a therapist at the Katharine Wright Psychiatric Clinic. While at Mundelein, Elena studied theology under Professor Sr. Carol Frances Jegen, BVM (1925–2020), where Sr. Carol’s devotion on Hispanic ministries led to the founding of Instituto Hispano program at Mundelein providing catechetical, and pastoral training. Elena and Sr. Carol developed a life-long friendship, meeting while Sr Carol resided in Chicago and at the Dubuque Motherhouse.

For over 30 years, the Law Offices of Elena M. Duarte has developed a strong concentration in family law, child support & custody, domestic violence, and representing victims of incest. She adopted her daughter as a single mom and they have traveled the country and world together. Elena is a staunch advocate for families and children with special needs. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Decalogue Society, and National Association of Social Workers and engaged in many civic and political causes.
