    ASA DataFest 2017

    ASA DataFest was at Loyola! This weekend-long data competition is held at top Universities across the nation and provides an opportunity for students, professors, and industry professionals to collaborate and analyze a surprise dataset.     Rataj Lecture: Kenneth Ribet

    Ken Ribet, UC Berkeley professor and President of the American Mathematical Society, gave a talk on Fermat's Last Theorem for our Rataj Lecture. When an alternate title could be "Andrew Wiles Bests Gauss and Euler," you know there's got to be a compelling story in there somewhere.     Celebrated mathematician, number theorist extraordinaire, and AMS President Ken Ribet will visit us on Thursday 3/16 to deliver the Rataj Lecture in the Mathematical Sciences on Fermat's Last Theorem! A reception will be held from 3:00 in Piper Hall, followed by the talk at 4:00 PM in Cuneo 210! This is a unique opportunity to meet one of the forefront leaders in mathematics.
