Campus Police Training

Campus Safety's in-service training program ensures that sworn police officers in the Department are receiving the training that best serves our community. The Department strives to exceed legally mandated training, keeps up with best practices, and consistently trains beyond these limits. The Department prides itself not only on its wide spectrum of training, but also on the depth of training that Department police officers receive. The Department’s Training Coordinator coordinates all training as directed by the Department’s Training Committee.

In an effort to be responsive to and transparent with our Loyola community about Department training, we  provide this web page. Training is approved by the State of Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB), and coordinated through the Northeast Metropolitan-Regional Training (NEMRT), which is one of fourteen Mobile Teams of the Illinois ASSIST Programs. The Department also belongs to or utilizes other training agencies approved by ILTSB and NEMERT.

The Department maintains membership and/or training arrangements locally, nationally, and internationally. Main sources of training for our Department are: Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA); Court Smart by LEO Training; Northwestern University Center for Public Safety (NUCPS); Tri-River Police Training (ASSIST Mobile Team #16); the Illinois State Police (ISP); Suburban Law Enforcement Academy (SLEA); Legal and Liability Risk Management Institute (LLRMI); National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS 4); End Violence Against Women International (EVAWI); International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP); Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP); and International Association of College Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA).

This is a dynamic list and will be regularly updated as additional training is completed by the Department. The source of training is noted for all training.
