Gainful Employment Certificate Programs
On July 1, 2019, the U.S. Department of Education announced its final regulation regarding the Gainful Employment Rule (34 CFR 668, Subpart Q and Subpart R), which is effective on July 1, 2020. Information about certificate programs are found on the individual academic program websites. For tuition and fee information, please visit the Bursar's Office website. Graduate Certificate programs are limited to Federal and Private Loans.
Effective July 1, 2020, Loyola Universtiy of Chicago students enrolled (half-time or more) in stand-alone certificate programs designated as financial aid eligible can be awarded funds. In order for a certificate program to be deemed eligible to receive Title IV federal aid, it must:
- be one academic year in duration;
- be at least 24 credit hours for undergraduate certificates;
- be at least 9 credit hours for graduate certificates; and
- prepare students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation
