Crime Alert - Armed Robbery Near Sheridan and Winthrop

Loyola Community,

Campus Safety is writing to inform you of an armed robbery that occurred around 3:30 a.m. this morning near Sheridan and Winthrop, on the Lake Shore Campus. 

In this incident, three Loyola students were walking on Sheridan Road between Kenmore and Winthrop when two offenders approached them and demanded their valuables. One of the offenders displayed a silver handgun. The students complied and the offenders fled west on Sheridan toward Broadway without further incident.  

The offenders are described by the Chicago Police Department as:

Offender 1: Male, African-American with medium complexion, early to mid-20s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants

Offender 2: Male, African-American with a medium complexion, approximately 5'9" to 5'11", slim build, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt

  • Investigative follow-up will be dependent on the amount of detail a person can recall. It is important to remember as many identifying characteristics about the offender(s) as possible. This can include physical characteristics of the person, their clothing, any weapons used, direction of flight, etc.
