Grand Opening
The Arnold J. Damen, S.J., Student Center will host its Grand Opening and Dedication on Wednesday, April 3 at 9 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the north entrance to the facility (next to CFSU). For those students looking for food options on Monday, April 1 or Tuesday, April 2nd (Rambler Room and Lake Shore Dining Close March 28) will be able to access the Damen Student Center Residential Dining Hall during the breakfast, lunch, and dinner hours. Access to the rest of the Damen Student Center on April 1-2 will be strictly prohibited.
The Grand Opening and Dedication on Wednesday, April 3, will kick off a full day of Damen Student Center Programming. Beginning with the blessing and dedication at 9 a.m., students will then enter the building and proceed to the center Atrium (underneath the 80 foot skylight) where they will receive the day's schedule and kick off the Damen Game.
Here is a sampling of what is happening throughout the day on April 3:
9:00AM:
- Official Blessing, Dedication, and Ribbon Cutting
- Speeches: Father Garanzini, Dr. Robert Kelly, Julia Poirier (current USGA President)
- Loyola Community enters into Atrium area
10:00AM:
- Damen Game Begins: Game cards distributed at 10 and throughout the day
- Video Contest Begins: Damen Student Center Cinema
- Video Game Competition Begins: Ireland's Sports Lounge (lower level)
- Rock Wall Demonstration (1): Halas Recreation Center
11:00AM-1:00PM:
- FREE FOOD in Damen Food Court: (ONLY 11-1)
- FREE "samples" throughout the afternoon
10:00AM-6:00PM:
- SENIORS ONLY can start to "build" their hats for the SENIOR HOP
- Pick-Up hats later in the evening before event
1:00PM:
- Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals: Ireland's Sports Lounge
- FREE Athletic Giveaways/Contests
3:00PM:
- Rock Wall Demonstration (2): Halas Recreation Center
4:00PM-6:00PM:
- Faculty and Staff "Wine Down": SCB Fireplace Lounge (2nd Floor)
- Tours available: ALCOHOL NOT PERMITTED outside of restricted area
- Hosted by Maroon and Gold Society
6:00PM:
- Damen Game Raffle Drawing
- Students DO NOT have to be present to win
9:00PM-11:00PM:
- SENIORS ONLY "HOP"
- Food and drink (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)
- DJ
- Photo Booth
- Contests (best hat, most creative, etc.)
- Informal Gathering
