South Asian Law Students Association (SALSA)

South Asian Law Student Association

Founded in 2026, the South Asian Law Students Association (SALSA) at Loyola University Chicago School of Law is dedicated to building community, advancing professional development, and increasing South Asian representation in the legal profession. SALSA celebrates the diverse cultures, identities, and traditions of South Asia, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

SALSA welcomes students of all backgrounds who are interested in South Asian cultures, communities, and experiences. Through social and cultural events, professional development programs, mentorship, and advocacy, SALSA creates opportunities for students to build meaningful relationships and grow personally and professionally.

Within the law school, SALSA works to connect students with one another and with Loyola alumni, attorneys, and other members of the legal community. Students can become involved through events, leadership opportunities, and SALSA’s mentorship program, which connects newer students with upperclassmen.

Outside of Loyola, SALSA maintains relationships with the South Asian American Bar Association of Chicago (SABA Chicago) and the South Asian Bar Association of North America (SABA North America), giving members access to a broader network of South Asian attorneys and legal professionals throughout Chicago and beyond.

By participating in SALSA, students can become part of a close-knit community while helping strengthen the visibility, representation, and engagement of South Asian students and professionals in the legal field. We encourage anyone with an interest in SALSA’s mission to join.
