Coming Soon: Financial Assistance for Students – HEERF II
January 29, 2021
Dear Students,
Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) announced additional funding available to institutions of higher education to serve students and ensure learning continues during the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding is allocated to the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), which was signed into law on December 27, 2020.
We are eagerly awaiting more guidance from ED regarding which students and expenses are eligible for HEERF II. We will share with you how these funds will be made available to our students as soon as possible.
In the interim, we strongly recommend that students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2020-2021 academic year, as well as the FAFSA for the 2021-2022 academic year for continuing students. The FAFSA can be found at studentaid.gov. Having a completed FAFSA was one of the eligibility criteria for receiving HEERF Student Share grants distributed in 2020, and we expect a similar approach for HEERF II.
If you have any questions about financial aid, please contact Loyola’s Financial Aid Office at lufinaid@LUC.edu.
Together in Loyola,
Thomas M. Kelly
