Annual Compliance Training

Ongoing education is one way Human Resources and the Office for Equity and Compliance works to foster and sustain a positive, healthy, and inclusive environment.  As part of our collective effort to prevent discrimination, sexual misconduct, harassment, & retaliation, along with recognizing bystander intervention practices, in the coming months, Faculty and Staff will receive an invitation to complete the required annual compliance training. More information is available below.

To comply with Federal, State, and Local regulations that are designed to prevent discrimination, sexual misconduct, harassment, & retaliation in the workplace, and introduce safe bystander intervention steps, the University incorporates annual compliance training. Participation encourages and highlights our workplace culture that promotes safety and inclusion, strictly prohibits all forms of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation, along with promoting mandated reporting.

 

We are asking faculty and staff to participate in the required annual compliance training. Participation helps support our mission to create a safe, respectful and inclusive campus community that is committed to practicing responsible engagement activities, including understanding your duty to report discrimination, sexual misconduct, harassment, and retaliation concerns.

Annual Compliance Training participants will have opportunities to learn about safe ways to intervene as a bystander, recognize personal apprehensions about bystander intervention, and explore discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, & retaliation prevention through the lens of multiple avenues, including: 

  • Harassment and Title IX laws
  • Appropriate vs inappropriate social media use
  • Types of discrimination, harassment. and sexual misconduct
  • Liability avoidance tips
  • Unlawful harassment in the workplace, including intimidating, hostile or offensive environments
  • Reporting and resolving discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and/or retaliation situations
