BS in Mathematics (Education Track)

This rigorous course of study in mathematics sets the foundation for teaching secondary school mathematics. It does not provide a Professional Educators License. The Math Education Track degree and a BSED or a Master's in Education from Loyola's School of Education will provide the opportunity to earn a Professional Educators License.

  • One year of Single Variable Calculus: Math 161 & Math 162
  • Multivariable Calculus: Math 263
  • Choose one of the two following courses:
  • Linear Algebra: Math 212
  • Introduction to Discete Mathematics & Number Theory: Math 201
  • Statistics: Stat 203 or Stat 335
  • History of Mathematics: Math 301
  • Abstract Algebra: Math 313
  • Combinatorics: Math 318
  • Introduction to Game Theory: Math 360
  • Geometry: Math 344

Education Course Requirements

These are the requirements for the degree from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. The BSED or MS degree from the School of Education, which is needed to obtain a Professional Educators License, has additional requirements.
