2020 Winter Holiday Closure

COVID-19 Health Resources Through Aetna
Loyola University Chicago is committed to ensuring the well-being and safety of our students, faculty, and staff. In response to the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), Loyola Medical Plan members can take advantage of Aetna resources regarding the virus. Aetna is waiving co-pays or cost sharing for all diagnostic testing and doctor visits related to COVID-19 testing. This policy covers the test kit for patients who meet CDC guidelines for testing, which can be done in any approved laboratory location. Additionally, through December 31, 2020, Aetna will offer zero cost sharing telemedicine visits to members for behavioral and mental health services. LEARN MORE -
2021 Benefits Open Enrollment
The Open Enrollment period for 2021 benefit selections will take place online from Monday, November 2 – Friday, November 13, 2020 through Employee Self-Service. This is your annual opportunity to review and make changes to your benefits for you and your family. What's new for 2021? Unemployment Insurance Fraud
Multiple federal, state, and local agencies are reporting an increase in fraudulent unemployment insurance claims exploiting the COVID-19 pandemic. Instances of fraudulent unemployment insurance (UI) claims have become widespread across the country. Loyola University Chicago is one of many employers nationwide to have employees targeted by this fraudulent activity. Fraudulent claims are being made to state agencies to claim unemployment benefits using personally identifiable information (i.e. social security numbers) of employees who are actively working. This fraudulent activity is under investigation by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. There is no evidence of a breach of information at Loyola however, we are encouraging you to review general information about this situation to learn more about recommendations to protect your identity.LEARN MORE -
New Employee Self-Service Portal with Remote Access
Beginning October 12, 2020, Employee Self-Service (ESS) will be updated with a new look and feel. The new ESS portal features a redesigned landing page, making it easier for employees to find and access their pay and benefits information. Additionally, using Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Employee Self-Service (ESS) is now accessible via ess.LUC.edu and you no longer need to use Loyola Secure Access to access ESS off-campus. Free Flu Shots

In preparing for the phased reopening of our campuses, Loyola has made health and safety our top priority. Now more than ever, we are called to care for ourselves, each other, and the wider world around us. To further educate our community on the importance of virus prevention, we are also requiring all students, faculty, and staff to complete an online COVID-19 prevention and awareness course. Please check your LUC email for a training invitation that was sent on July 30 to faculty and staff members. Commemorating Juneteenth
Human Resources commemorates Juneteenth - the ending of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865. As announced on June 18, Loyola University Chicago will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2020, and this holiday will be recognized going forward. Your personalized 2019 Total Rewards Statement is now available online. The statement highlights the total value of your compensation, including your pay and valuable benefits offerings (i.e., health and welfare benefits, paid time off, and retirement benefits) provided by Loyola as of December 31, 2019. New 2020 Federal Form W-4
Due to federal tax law changes that took place in 2018, the IRS recently released a revised Federal Form W-4 for 2020. Employees hired in 2020 or current employees who previously completed a 2019 or earlier form and want to make a change to their withholding status in 2020 must use the revised form.LEARN MORE -

New Financial Wellness Center from Transamerica
At a time when many employees have several questions about their finances and retirement, Transamerica is excited to launch the Financial Wellness Center. This new digital financial education resource lets people engage in self-paced learning on financial topics like budgeting, paying off debt, buying a home, and more. Different journeys and playlists are available to help improve retirement financial options. All employees will be able to access the Financial Wellness Center directly from Loyola's custom portal. TIAA-Transamerica Merger Postponement
TIAA mutual funds were scheduled to merge into the Loyola University of Chicago Defined Contribution Plan at Transamerica on April 2, 2020. Due to recent market volatility, we have decided to postpone this transfer until further notice. Any affected participants will still have full access to your accounts and no action is necessary at this time.MORE -
New DCRP Investment Options Coming in 2020
A recent review of the Defined Contribution Retirement Plan (DCRP) investment lineup and fee structures was conducted. As a result of this review, updates to the retirement plan’s fund options for 2020 have been made. These changes may result in new investment options, lower fees and consolidation of your accounts. Please note, there are no plan design changes being made to the DCRP, and these updates may not affect all plan participants. Postcards were mailed to all retirement plan participants, and if your retirement account is impacted by the updates, you will receive more information in the mail. You can now access Perspectives’ Employee Assistance Program’s online resources via your Phone or Android smartphone through the Spark mobile app. Once you download the app, enter Loyola’s credentials: Username: LOY500 and Password: perspectives. New Aetna Medical Insurance Cards Mailed to Homes in December
Faculty and staff members who enrolled in Loyola health insurance for 2020 should have received new insurance cards from Aetna in the mail in December. The cards are in the faculty or staff member’s name, and should be used by all dependents enrolled in Loyola benefit plans. Once you receive your cards, you can create an account at www.aetna.com. You may also download the Aetna Health app to your smartphone. Through the app, you can easily view your benefits and progress toward your deductible, and access the digital version of your member ID card. -
Use the Aetna Health App to Manage Your Medical Benefits
Faculty and staff enrolled in Loyola’s medical plan are encouraged to create an account at www.Aetna.com/Loyola to manage your health insurance. You are also encouraged to download the Aetna Health app to your smartphone. The Aetna Health app can make it easier to manage your health and benefits. The app allows you to access your medical ID card whenever you need it, track spending and progress toward deductibles, find in-network providers accepting new patients, estimate and compare costs, view and pay your claims, and search for facilities, procedures or medications. Get the Aetna Health app by texting “AETNA” to 90156 for a link to download the app (message and data rates apply), or search for and download the "Aetna Health" app directly from your smartphone app store. -
Announcing the 2020 Tenured Faculty Voluntary Transition Incentive Program (TF-VTIP)
Loyola University Chicago is offering the Tenured Faculty Voluntary Transition Incentive Program (TF-VTIP) as a one-time program for eligible tenured faculty members. It provides an opportunity for individuals who would like to pursue early retirement, or a life or career change, with the support to do so. Participation in the program is completely voluntary – no one will be required to participate. Earn Incentives for Healthy Habits and Participation in Wellness Activities
The 2020 Wellness Program offers incentives to help you reach optimum health. Earn periodic Wellness Rewards—bonus money in your paychecks for every period that you complete the requirements. You can earn up to $300 annually ($75 per period) if you earn 125 points by the period deadline.
