Maintenance Work Street Closure at Lake Shore Campus
August 2025
On Saturday, August 9th from 8:00AM to Noon, the east entrance of Neil Hartigan parkway at Lake Shore Campus will be closed for technology maintenance work coordinated with Facilities. Traffic flaggers will direct people in and out of the main garage at the west entrance. While the main garage will remain open during this time, consider parking in the Fordham garage located at 6461 N Sheridan Rd.

Telephone System Replacement

We are excited to announce a transition for all University faculty and staff telephones to the Microsoft Teams phone environment. We completed this move for those at the Health Science Campus recently with Lakeshore and Water Tower phones to be scheduled in the months ahead this spring. Lawson & ESS Login Screen Update
February 2025
On February 17, 2025, we will transition from using Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) to Microsoft Azure (Entra) SSO for authentication for Lawson and Employee Self-Service. This change is aimed at enhancing the ease of single sign-on between applications, making your login experience smoother and more efficient. Although you might notice some slight differences in the login screens, there will be no impact on the overall Lawson and Employee Self-Service experience.

PrinterLogic for Faculty & Staff
December 2024
Starting on December 3, faculty and staff using Loyola managed Windows or macOS devices can opt into Loyola’s new print management system, PrinterLogic by Vasion, with automatic deployment scheduled to begin on January 2. This update streamlines your printing experience with self-service options, giving you the flexibility to add and remove printers as needed across all four Chicagoland campuses—without needing ITS support. Printers already installed on your device will not be affected by this change.

Adobe Login Screen Update
December 2024
On December 18th at 9:00 a.m., we will be updating how Adobe authenticates users. Currently it accomplishes this using Shibboleth. This update will switch to the Microsoft Azure (Entra) SSO affording greater ease of single sign-on between apps using this method. While the login screens may look slightly different, there will be no impact to the Adobe experience.

Sakai 23 Upgrade & Info Sessions

On Thursday, December 19th, 2024, we will upgrade to Sakai 23. The system will be unavailable from approximately 7:00-11:00am CST. This latest software release provides you with a new interface for accessing courses, a new Dashboard tool, improvements to the Assignments Grader, options for managing course access, and more. On March 28th at 5:00 a.m., we are going to change how Zoom authenticates users. Currently it accomplishes this using Shibboleth. Leaf Goes Live
October 2023
The Leaf cohort discovery tool is now live and available to researchers. Leaf is a self-service web application which allows cohort discovery from clinical data from single or multiple institutions. Leaf is an Institute for Translational Medicine (ITM) initiative, and the other participating ITM institutions are RUSH and the University of Chicago.

Office Upgrade to Microsoft 365
September 2023
Starting October 10th, 2023, Microsoft will reduce support for Office 2016 and 2019 apps. While older Office versions may work, they face performance and reliability issues if not updated. University computers with Office 2019, 2016, or older will be upgraded, beginning October 6th, following Microsoft's recommendation. ITS strongly encourages you to upgrade to the latest version of Office -Microsoft 365- prior to the mandatory deployment, as it allows you to perform the installation at your personal convenience.

Sakai 20 Upgrade

Loyola recently upgraded to Sakai 20. This latest software release provides your Sakai experience with a clean and contemporary user interface, along with new features and functionality. These include a new Rubrics tool, as well as enhancements to Assignments, Gradebook, Tests & Quizzes, and the Rich Text Editor.

External REDCap Site Goes Live

The external Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) site is now available for research use. This allows researchers and participants to access REDCap functions such as data entry, surveys, and electronic consenting from off-campus networks. This also facilitates multi-center studies by allowing Loyola to be the host data site.

National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C) Update
December 2020
Loyola has begun participation in the National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C), a national resource enabling large cohort Covid-19 clinical research. As a Data Use Agreement has recently been completed, this now allows Loyola researchers to request access to N3C data. More information on N3C and how to request data can be found on our NCATS-N3C page.

New Zoom Cloud Recording Retention Policy
September 2020
Starting October 1, all cloud recordings will be retained for 180 days. Cloud recordings older than 180 days will automatically be moved to a 30-day recycle bin. An email notification from Zoom will be sent to the cloud recording owner 7 days prior to permanent deletion from the recycle bin.

Loyola will transition to Microsoft Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) as our primary email anti-spam and protection filter to prevent unwanted email and spam from reaching out inboxes beginning on August 8th.

Qualtrics Now Available

We are pleased to announce that Qualtrics is now available for use. Students, faculty and staff can log in to Qualtrics at luc.qualtrics.com using their LUC username and password. Your account will be created automatically upon login. All active account holders on previous LUC Qualtrics subscriptions have been migrated to the luc.qualtrics.com subscription the first week of March 2020.

Multi-Factor Authentication protects you even if your Loyola password becomes compromised by using your UVID and password plus one additional authentication method to verify your identity.

New Protected Location for Sensitive Data
February 2020
To reduce the risks of data loss, Loyola University Chicago will begin moving some of its documents and forms that deal with sensitive data to a more secure location. In the coming weeks, some of these forms on the HR and Finance webpages will be updated to require a Loyola login via UVID and password to access. This modification will ensure that only authorized personnel have access to the processes that specifically deal with sensitive information.

Loyola's Wireless Network Update
August 2018
On Monday, August 20, Loyola’s wireless network “loyola” will be retired. All faculty, staff and students currently using “loyola” will need to change their wireless connection to “LUC.” The “LUC” wireless network provides a more secure and encrypted connection to Loyola’s network. If you are currently using “LUC,” no changes are required to your devices.
